Overview

Increase your confidence and ability to use the Gaia GPS app for smartphones to explore terrain and navigate off trail. Learn how to record tracks and waypoints. Improve your map and compass skills, and become familiar with how these skills dovetail with your use of a GPS device. Learn how to make your own high-quality maps using free, online tools. And apply these skills as you bushwhack to trailess peak. Hiking off-trail is more difficult and physically demanding than hiking to trailed peaks. Thus, participants signing up for this workshop must have good stamina and current hiking fitness, able to hike 6+ miles, with a pack, over difficult terrain.
