Overview

We'll head out to Notchview, with groomed trails. Read more about Notchview here: http://www.thetrustees.org/about-us/press-room/press-releases/new-at-notchview.html View the trail map here: http://www.thetrustees.org/assets/documents/places-to-visit/trailmaps/Notchview-Trail-Map.pdf Admission price at the door for members of the Trustees of Reservations: $8 Admission price at the door for non-members of the Trustees of Reservations: $15 Skill Level: We hope to find participants for this trip who are all at approximately the same skill level so that our group stays together easily. If you can stay on your own two feet (and skis) without falling every five minutes, then you're good to go. If it has been a while since you last skied and you would like a little extra time beforehand to practice, you may arrive early since Notchview opens at 8am. If you're already an advanced skier then the pace of this trip will likely feel too slow for you. We'll ski the trails together as a group. We won't be counting miles, and you can leave to head home whenever you're tired, but the plan is to ski for 3-4 hours with a stop in between at the warming hut (but feel free to stay longer on your own). Registration: Additional details about the meeting location, etc. will be provided by email a few days before the trip to those who register by email. Adam will be available from 8:30-9am to do a brief skills review for anyone interested. If you would like to arrive early to meet with Adam, please let us know when you register. Gear: -x-cntry boots, poles, and skis are available to rent on site for $20 per day (this is in addition to the price for admission) -2 pairs of socks (thin and thick) -multiple insulating layers (no cotton!) Food: Bring some snacks and insulated water bottles with you while you're out on the trail. Also, there's a tiny menu available on site with chili, bagels, and Punjabi samosas. Sometimes they have sandwiches, and they're working on a vegetarian soup recipe that should be available soon. There are also a couple of general stores down the street for anyone who gets hungry on the way home. They are… Sangar General Store, 1895 Route 9, Windsor, MA Friendly Fred's Package Store, 1173 Route 9, Windsor, MA Dogs: No dogs please.
