Overview

If you have never been canoe camping before now is the perfect time to explore camping near the water's edge. This fun canoe camping experience will be led by AMC Registered Maine Guides to take you out to our secret new campsite out on Long Pond. Our guides will teach the basics of canoe camping, provide all the gear and food needs for the weekend. The first day participants will meet the guides at Gorman Chairback Lodge and spend one night in the cabins and exploring the area from shore. The second day the guides will help load up the overnight gear and teach some basic canoe safety and paddling techniques then take you out on Long Pond. We will have plenty of time to set up camp, explore the island, or go out and explore more of the pond via canoes. Come out and join us for a wonderful weekend of canoeing and exploring in the 100 Mile Wilderness of Maine, eating fantastic meals around the campfire and sleeping under the stars. On the final day the guides will cook you up a hearty camp breakfast and then it is time to say goodbye and head back to Gorman Chairback Lodge. Guests are lodged in the bunkhouse or private rustic cabins with capacities ranging from two to twelve people. All cabins contain wood stoves, gas lights and beds. Bedding and towels are not provided in the bunkhouse. Hearty breakfasts and dinners are served family style each morning and evening in the lodge dining room. Each morning lodge staff prepares trail lunches for each participant that are available after breakfast. Travel times and guided activities will vary depending on abilities and weather.
