Want to learn more about how bicycles work, how to maintain them, and how to make basic repairs to them? Then join us for the Berkshire Chapter's First Annual Bike Repair and Information Workshop! Participants will learn proper clothing for road cycling, types of bikes, safety and much more. During the general maintenance session, participants will learn the pre-ride checklist, proper bicycle fit, and how to avoid common problems on the road. Finally, we will cover how to deal with road emergencies, including how to fix a flat tire. On-site parking is free. Bring the front wheel from your bike (it is easier to remove than the rear), tire levers, and a pump to practice fixing flats, but DO NOT BRING the whole bike (space is limited). Event supported by Speed & Sprocket Cycle Works!
*Price includes morning refreshments, lunch, and a printed bike repair manual.
Brant is co-chair of the AMC Berkshire Chapter Bicycling Committee. Brant has been riding bikes for both pleasure and exercise for as long as he can remember. Starting in the early 2000s, bicycling became Brant's primary outdoor activity (except during winter), and he now rides at least 2500 miles each year. His bike is named Ulysses, inspired by the final line of the poem by Tennyson.
Janine is co-Chair of the AMC Berkshire Bicycling Committee. Prior to starting the AMC Berkshire Chapter Bicycle Committee, Janine led bicycle trips for the AMC Boston Chapter for two decades. She enjoys planning and leading bike rides, taking AMC members to interesting places in Massachusetts and exploring with them by bike.
