Fall is here and that is spawning time for the fish in Moosehead Lake. AMC's Maine Woods Initiative newest facility Medawisla sits right along the headwaters of Moosehead Lake. This program provides anglers the opportunity to fish for trophy brook trout and landlocked salmon while accompanied by trained AMC Maine guides. Programming starts Friday evening after dinner with a presentation on native and wild brook trout and what the AMC is doing to preserve their fragile habitat. Saturday morning anglers will meet early to grab a to go breakfast and lunch and then head out to the First Roach River in search of early rising brook trout and salmon. Each participant will be given individual attention. Fishing guides will be around all day to give instruction, help with fly selection, and work with the angler on any specific problem. All participants will get a custom box of flies that are known for attracting brook trout in the area. Participants should plan to spend most of the day outdoors wading in the river. There will also be short hikes to get to specific sections of the river.
