Interested in getting outdoors and hiking? Perhaps you want to hike with friends and family, hike for fitness, lower stress, achieve goals or simply to just have fun! Or, do you already hike, but wish to sharpen your skills? Appalachian Mountain Club - Delaware Valley Chapter, in partnership with PA State Parks, are hosting a "Hiking Essentials Workshop" to either to get you started or move you to the next level.
Learn about gear, trip planning, map & compass basics, identifying and minimizing hazards and what to do if something goes wrong. This program is designed for those wanting to feel more comfortable hiking anywhere, from nearby local parks and rail trails, to more remote wilderness areas. The workshop will be held in the classroom at the Tyler State Park Office, 101 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940, from 9:30am to 12:00pm. After a short lunch break (BYOL), there will be a short and easy hike. Please bring a lunch, snacks, water and any gear you wish to use on the hike.
Cost is FREE; but registration is requested as space is limited. In order to comply with PA State Youth Protection laws, all children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Questions and registration, contact Jeff Fritzinger (email@example.com) or Barbara Beatrice (firstname.lastname@example.org).
