Green Lane Park, (Snyder Road),
Registration is not required for this activity. However, you may wish to contact the leader(s) if you have any questions.
Join us for a moderate paced (11-12 mph) bike ride round trip on the Perkiomen Trail from Green Lane Park ( about 7 miles northwest of Schwenksville) to its junction with the Schuylkill River Trail at Betzwood. This is just across the river from the Valley Forge National Historic Park.
The round trip distance is 36 miles. Although the trail is flat along most of its route, there is at least one noticeable hill to climb. We will climb it in the early part of the ride, and enjoy riding down it on our return.
The surface is mostly packed gravel, though there are sections of pavement. Mountain bikes and road bikes may be used, but the ideal bike for this trail would be a hybrid bike. I most likely will ride my road bike any way, but many are more comfortable with a bike with a wider tire.
We will stop for lunch along the way, probably in Collegeville, on the return portion of the trip, though I will be open to suggestions for a great lunch place there or elsewhere along the trail. You will want to have either money for lunch, or bring a lunch with you
Participants must wear helmets, bring water, suitable clothing, and spare tubes, and have bikes that are safe and in good working order to participate.
Though registration is not required, please contact me, preferably by email, if you have any questions or concerns.
Please arrive early enough to be riding at 10 a.m.
