Learn the key principles of trad climbing anchor building. This is a one-day professionally taught class on the fundamentals of building anchors necessary for safe trad climbing and top rope set-up. You will learn to make use of climbing gear, fixed bolts, and natural features for anchor building. This class will cover:
•Master point vs shelf
•Natural vs bolted vs gear anchors
•Load distribution: pre-equalized vs self-equalizing (quad and sliding x)
•Vectors and shock loading issues
This class is targeted towards experienced top rope climbers with an interest in trad seconding or lead climbing. Participants must bring their own personal gear including climbing harness, helmet, and shoes and delay device and locking carabiner. Maximum of 6 participants.
