This is the Connecticut Appalachian Trail Committee's major event, and your annual opportunity to give back to the AT! Projects for all skill levels including first timers. Select an activity to suit your interest.
This year a special stone staircase project will be dedicated to the memory of Dave Hardy, a well loved and highly respected friend of AMC-CT, former Chairman of the AMC Inter-Chapter Trail Committee, and Director of Trail Programs for the Green Mountain Club. To help us anticipate the interest, leadership, and tools needed for this special project, please pre-register by sending an email to Jim Liptack at firstname.lastname@example.org . No need to pre-register if you interested in participating in any other projects listed below.
Other planned projects include: Boundary Maintenance (finding survey monuments using compass and survey maps and refreshing yellow paint blazes), Brushing and other treadway improvements on the Undermountain Trail and Bear Mountain, , Kiosk repairs at the Lion's Head trailhead, And the always satisfying "Great Garlic Pull" or other natural resource improvement activity.
Meet 9am at Housatonic Meadows SP Picnic Area on Rt 7, 1/4 mi north of the junction of Rte 7 & Rte 4 in Cornwall Bridge. A brief recognition of volunteers will be held, followed by our short yet entertaining tool safety talk. Social Hour follows the projects at the end of the day. Participants are encouraged to bring food and beverages to share for the social. Bring work gloves, and wear suitable work clothing. Bring lunch and plenty of water, all other tools and training will be provided.
