The Batona Trail is a 50-mile linear trail that crosses NJ Pine Barrens. We will hike the trail from the relocated southern end at Bass River State Forest to Evans Bridge (where it crosses the Wading River and Route 563). Trail has little elevation change and is mostly sandy paths and some old sand roads. The trail passes many streams, bogs, and wet areas. This is a point to point hike that requires a car shuttle. Optional post-hike dinner at Allen's Clam Bar in New Gretna. Rain cancels.
