Join a long-standing New England tradition, and begin or continue your quest to climb all 48 of New Hampshire's 4,000-foot peaks! On this 10-day Adventure, backpack with us throughout the Pemigewasset Wilderness Area in an attempt to summit as many 4,000- foot peaks as time and weather allow. Camp in backcountry sites and visit remote peaks, like the Bonds or the famous Franconia Ridge. This itinerary is designed to be challenging and will include long days with strenuous terrain. For ages 13-15. General Itinerary: Day 1: After an introductory meeting with instructors, group and parents, gear is checked and issued. After lunch the group heads to the trailhead and begins their hike to the first campsite where they learn about camp set up, cooking on a camp stove, and sleeping comfortably in the backcountry. Day 2-3: The group works together to break down camp. They will go over their route for the day, and hit the trail for their next camp site stopping for lunch and breaks along the way. After arriving in camp, the group may play a game, participate in team initiatives, or have some down time to reflect on their experience in the outdoors. Day 4-5: The group continues to travel to more backcountry campsites, refining their outdoor skills, developing friendships and enjoying scenic views. Day 6: The group will layover at their campsite and hike to a nearby trail head for a resupply of food and equipment. Then they will head back to their campsite for the evening. Day 7-9: The group continues to explore the beauty of the Pemigewasset wilderness area, continuing to summit 4000' peaks along their path, camping near ponds and mountain brooks in between. Day 10: The group will hike out to the trailhead, where they will be picked up and transported back to Pinkham Notch. They will have lunch, de-issue borrowed equipment and debrief their trip before being picked up in the afternoon.
