Overview

Registration is requested by clicking on the Register Now link above (but not absolutely required) in order to help manage group size and ensure a safe and fun hike. A YES RSVP can be changed to NO at any time. Even if you are on the waitlist you will likely be able to attend due to many last minute cancellations and no shows. Enjoy a fascinating walk in the historic Lower East Side of Manhattan, long home to generations of immigrants, but a neighborhood which also now has upscale eateries, art galleries (some of which we will briefly visit) and posh or offbeat shops. We end the hike in the East Village which has lots of charm and also historical importance. We finish at Astor Place, with access to many subway lines. We will walk at a steady, intermediate 3 level (not fast, but definitely not slow) pace over a distance of approximately 4 miles (Per AMC policy, please no dogs, unless indicated otherwise). We will not be stopping for any length of time for lunch, so please bring snacks to eat along the way if you wish. Rain or even questionable forecast, as well as potentially unsafe ground conditions from ice or snow, may cancel or modify; check website for latest updates. We meet at 12:45 PM. Take the F train to East Broadway. Exit at Rutgers and East Broadway exit. Meet in front of 12 Corners at 155 East Broadway, right outside of the train station.
