Overview

Join a small group of AMC Families at Cardigan High Cabin for the night. Hike in two miles with 1450' elevation gain. The cabin is just under half a mile from the summit of Mt. Cardigan (3,155') w/great views. Spring hiking is awesome with cool temperatures and no bugs. Begin at Cardigan Lodge and hike 2 miles (1,450 elevation gain) to Cardigan High Cabin. Drop overnight gear and continue to the summit. Return to the cabin for games/activities and meal prep. The cabin has a composting toilet and wood stove for heat. Sunday hike back to Cardigan Lodge. The cabin has 12 bunks/mattresses (no pillows)in the main room. There is a dry sink, two burner propane stove, and woodstove to keep the cabin toasty warm. Brian is a seasoned hiker and backpacker. His interests are fitness and nature, with a strong fondness for urban parks and anything involving the Olmsteads..thats right ..it was a family business. Brian enjoys leading urban walking trips as well as 4 season trips for families in Boston and new Hampshire. Both backpacks as well as hikes are interesting and fun for children and their families. Within the last year, he has been involved with shelter, hut and all season experiences in the whites.
