Winter Pool Session Series - Manchester YMCA

Date and Time

Sunday, March 3, 2019, 5:00PM - 6:30PM

YMCA 30 Mechanic St Manchester, NH 03101,
New Hampshire, Merrimack Valley,
NH United States

Registration is required for this activity.

Winter pool sessions have begun. Come practice those skills. Its better to roll than swim, and practicing those rescues makes you a great paddle partner. These winter sessions are generously hosted by the Merrimack Valley Paddlers and to attend, you MUST sign their waiver, register, and pay through their site here: *note there are some money saving multi-sessions options available! Unless otherwise noted, these sessions are posted as open practice sessions. Participants are welcome to practice solo or group up to work on any skills they wish. Depending on the availability of attending instructors, rolling and rescue training may also be available. Manchester YMCA notes: Park on Stark Street behind the YMCA. Bring kayaks into the fenced walkway behind B&B Grill and up to the service door. If closed, go around front to the main entrance and have them let you in the back with your boat. *Important* It has been brought to our attention that only 16' or shorter boats can be brought in through the twisty hallway. Sea Kayaks and Canoes should probably consider using the Nashua pool since that pool is bigger and access is easier.

AMC Trip Policy

Driving Directions

Follow I-293 (either direction) into Manchester to Exit 5/Granite Street. Follow the signs for "Elm Street/Downtown/The Millyard/Canal Street" to put you on Granite Street Eastbound. Cross the river on the Granite Street Bridge; drive part-way up the hill, cross over the RR tracks, turn left at the light onto Canal Street (by the bus terminal). Follow Canal Street a little under half-mile, turn right at the light onto Mechanic Street. The YMCA is almost all the way up the hill on the right. Park anywhere along the street. The YMCA front doors will probably be locked; for the pool entrance walk back down the hill, go around the corner at the end of the building and down a small alley. Thru the gate, up a couple stairs, then thru a twisty-little-maze into the pool.
