French Creek State Park Hopewell Lake boat Ramp,
Come out and join Larry, Jay, Joe and friends for a weekly hike on the trails at French Creek State Park. Expect a moderate pace for around 6 to 8 miles. Each week we will try to mix up the route a bit to keep it interesting. You may get a different leader from the week before; We will adjust Meetup to indicate the actual leader(s) for that week's hike. We favor keeping the group together even though there are multiple leaders present. Expect less than 1000 feet total elevation gain the whole hike. The routes will use typical trails thru the woods with rocky sections, mud and occasional roots. We can hike more on gravel roads/trails if it is raining or has rained recently. The starting location is at the Hopewell Lake boat ramp parking area. The GPS coordinates are 40.19956,-75.78934. Modern facilities at the start. We will meet there at 8:45AM and leave soon after. We should finish up around 1PM. Bring water plus a snack if desired. (Note we are not planning to stop for a lunch break.) There is limited cell phone coverage in the park, so contact a hike leader before the hike if you are not sure of the start location. After the hike, you have the option of drinking and dining with us at a local bar/restaurant. We will only cancel this hike due to adverse weather conditions which make it unsafe to drive (heavy snow, ice) or hike (thunderstorms.) No dogs on this hike please.
