Overview

Loop hike along Ridge and (if interest) Roaring Brook (red extension) trails. Well-cleared, occasionally rocky, trail through mature tulippoplar/hickory/oak forest, with occasional hophornbeam, cedar, maple, and other tree species. General landforms, views from ridge / down pipeline cut, large boulders at the brook (intended lunch site), and occasional "ringing rocks" diabase rock fragments (note: the explanation at http://www.gis.dcnr.state.pa.us/topo/ogf/OGF_RingingRocksBucks.pdf doesn't "ring" true!) make this a popular trail. Dress (layered) for conditions, bring lunch, snacks, sturdy shoes (boots recommended), water, hiking poles if desired. ~ 350' elevation gain. If weather iffy, check hike status on website in morning. RSVP please, so we have 2-way contact. Meet at the trail kiosk next to the parking lot, 9:45 am for 10 sharp departure. L Stanton de Riel 609.731.3882 CL Annette Sheldon 609.731.9022
