The Nashua B&G Club pool will be open for sea kayak practice and training for up to 10 boats per session. Half of the pool will be open for kayak practice. The remainder of the pool will be dedicated to sea kayak training. The fee for each practice session is $20 per person. The training and practice session fee is $25 per person There will be three 1 ½ hour sessions Session No. 1. Saturday March 9 From 4 to 5:30 pm Session No. 2. Saturday March 16 From 4 to 5:30 pm Session No. 3. Saturday March 30 From 4 to 5:30 pm Open Practice: Cost: $20 per personAll participants wanting to perfect their sea kayak safety, handling and rolling skills will have the use of at least half of the B&G Club pool. Open practice participants must be proficient in performing a wet exit wearing a spray skirt or will be required to participate in the wet exit training portion of the scheduled NH AMC Sea Kayak Training Program. Open training participants are required to provide their own equipment. PFD's must be worn by everyone practicing while on the water. Swimming will only be allowed wearing a PFD for rescue practice purposes. .TRAINING: Sessions one and two: Cost: $25 per person per session All participants in session one and two will be trained in how to perform a wet exit from a sea kayak wearing a spray skirt. Following the kayak wet exit session participants will be trained in basic Assisted Kayak Rescue techniques. Following the assisted rescue training we will devote time remaining to self rescue skills using a paddle float and hand pump. For this training to be successful all participants will need to provide the following equipment either your own, rented or borrowed Sea kayak with bulkheads and a cockpit opening suitable for a spray skirt. a PFD and spray skirt. (A NH AMC demo kayak may be available), If you are serious about sea kayaking especially if you paddle alone you will want to purchase your own Paddle Float and Hand Pump. I will provide demo equipment for the first training sessions. TRAINING: Session Three Cost: $25 per person Session three will build on the first two sessions with a quick skills review and then move into bracing techniques, advanced assisted sea kayak rescues, advanced self-rescue and an introduction to rolling. (Optional for all sessions: if you become cold in tepid pool water a shorty wet suit. Also a swim mask and/or nose plug) The fee for pool sessions is $20 practice or $25 for training and practice.
