Fireworks! Flowering redbud trees! Feisty wave trains! New friends! Join AMC leader and experienced paddlers for a joint-club Week of Rivers with our friends from the Carolina Canoe Club. WE'LL COORDINATE WITH REGISTRANTS TO SEE WHICH DAYS WE ALL WISH TO ATTEND, THUS OPTIMIZING CAR POOL POTENTIAL! This is the Carolina Canoe Club's flagship annual whitewater paddling event. Each year around the 4th of July, paddlers converge on the Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground in Bryson City, NC for 9 days of paddling fun, evening activities, and camping. Bryson City is nestled in the western corner of North Carolina, right in the heart of whitewater heaven, the Nantahala River Gorge. Though not a comprehensive list, nearby rivers include the Nantahala, Tellico, Tuckasegee, and Ocoee. There are even wild and scenic CL 1 options, too! As with last year, AMC leaders coordinate a group within the event's bigger base camp and guide you as you choose your challenge each day. One of our chapter paddlers, Liz, lends her legendary dad as a frequent safety river leader VIP. Hang out all 9 days with us, or stay for just a few. Feel free to email me for more info, or view their website:
