Join the AMC, the White Mountain National Forest, and the White Mountain Trail Collective as we celebrate the bicentennial of the Crawford Path. Lend a hand on this historic hiking trail in the White Mountains! The Crawford Path is one of the most popular trails on the White Mountain National Forest. As the oldest continuously maintained recreation trail in the country, the Crawford Path suffers from degraded trail conditions nearly 200 years in the making. This volunteer event, intended to provide an opportunity for women to work together on trail stewardship projects, is part of Crawford Path's 200th anniversary. These events provide an opportunity for volunteers to help protect the Crawford Path from further degradation and preserve this hiking resource for the next century. The day will begin at 9am at the Crawford Path Connector Trailhead in Crawford Notch with a brief welcoming and orientation. Volunteers will need to be prepared for the day and have sturdy hiking boots, long pants, work gloves, plenty of water, lunch, snacks, and other clothing appropriate for the weather. We will be working on the trail rain or shine. The day will be led by AMC Trail Crew Leaders in partnership with the White Mountain National Forest and White Mountain Trail Collective. After the orientation to tools and safety, we will hike up the Crawford Path Connector Trail to access the Crawford Path. A short hike will lead us up to the trail projects where we will get to work! At the end of the day we will pack up and hike back to the trailhead to wrap up with a big Thank You to our volunteers! We hope you can join us to help steward America's oldest continuously maintained hiking trail. This program is intended to provide an opportunity for women to work together on trail stewardship. Pre-registration is required, participation is FREE. Register by emailing or calling 603-466-8156.
