This weekend is designed for active, fit participants interested in summiting some 4000+ foot peaks in Crawford Notch. Participants may be after the 48 peaks or just interested in some moderately challenging hiking in the White Mountains with a group. The program will commence Friday evening with dinner, followed by a welcome session where you will meet and greet other group members and guides, and learn about the hikes being offered that weekend. Our professional guides will cover what to expect during the hike including terrain, trail conditions and weather, hiking safety, a recommended gear list, leave no trace, and more. Additionally, during the hike, guides will point out interesting flora/fauna along the way. The group will attempt to hike at least one 4000 footer on Saturday and one on Sunday, with the possibility to do several. Actual hiking destinations may vary based on weather and trail conditions, but options include: Mt. Tom, Mt. Field, Mt. Willey, Mt. Pierce, Mt. Webster, Mt. Jackson, and Mt. Hale. Also offered on Saturday will be a post hike social hour including complimentary hors d'oeuvres and cash bar, and a featured evening speaker. Program Highlights •Guided hikes up several 4000+ foot peaks. Options include: oMt. Pierce: Following the Crawford Path past Gibbs Falls and the Mizpah Cut-off, this trail climbs through different forest zones. The grade of this hike is moderate, and the summit has grand views in all directions. 6.4 miles RT, 2400' climb, 6-7 hours RT. oMt. Webster & Mt. Jackson Loop: This hike accesses both peaks of Mt. Webster and Mt. Jackson via the Webster-Jackson Trail and the Webster Cliff Trail. Travelling over steep, rocky terrain, the trail passes by Silver Cascades before approaching the ledgy, exposed summits. 6.5 miles, 2450' climb, 6 -8 hours RT(both summits). oMt. Tom & Mt. Field Loop: This classic loops gets you to 2 4000' peaks. A moderately strenuous hike that starts on the Avalon Trail and continues to the Willey Range. 7.5 miles, 2350' climb, 6-8 hours RT. •Tricks for Cool Weather Comfort: Learn ways to beat the cold and snow and enjoy more time recreating in the outdoors during late fall/winter. •Participants will learn winter outdoor skills: oHiking Safety with Winter Considerations oSnowshoeing/traction/late fall hiking oNatural history
