Level 2+ Tour length less than 10Miles, Winds under 10 knots Waves under 2 feet, crossings up to 1 nautical mile. Join us for a tour of the New Hampshire coastline from the Great Island Common beach on New Castle Island. The beach is hard sand in a protected cove not affected by the tide for launching and landing but you'll endure a long carry from the parking area to the beach. Bring a kayak cot if you have one or ask for assistance. We will cruise the coastline from Fort Stark to Fort Constitution and visit a few of the off shore islands. The tour will include views of three Forts, the recently revived Life Saving Station on Wood Island, The Coast Guard Station at Portsmouth Harbor Lite and Whaleback Lite. To participate you'll need to be a strong Level 2 paddler with a sea kayak having bulkheads at least 14 1/2 ft long. You must also have ocean paddling skills including wet exit wearing a PFD and spray skirt and self/assisted rescue skills.
