The Stephen & Betsy Corman AMC Harriman Outdoor Center,
New York, Hudson River Valley,
Bring a friend and enjoy a hazy, lazy paddling weekend at Breakneck Pond in Harriman State Park. This laid back, free and easy weekend is perfect for a Girls Weekend Away! Gain confidence in canoes and kayaks with other ladies in this weekend. Donna and Klara will review basic canoe and kayak strokes, followed by a lazy paddle to the far side of the lake. No experience is necessary. Paddlers of all levels are welcome, but must be comfortable swimming in deep water. If you would rather stay closer to shore, enjoy free time hiking, swimming, sunbathing or simply relaxing. We will take meals (breakfasts and dinners) in the Dining Hall. Trail lunches may be purchased separately when you arrive at the camp. We will stay in Storm King Cabin or Beaver Brook Tent Platforms. Storm King Cabin has 4 bedrooms, each with 2 bunk- and 2 single- beds, plus a large common room with dining table, futons and mini fridges. Thick mattresses, blankets and pillow are provided. Each Beaver Brook Tent Platform can accommodate four 2-person backpacking tents, which can be borrowed from the camp. Secure bearbox is available for food storage. Modern bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets are nearby. This event is led by the chapter's Harriman Program Committee Volunteer Leaders.
