Overview

This hike is part of the Young Members Couch to 4k Program https://regi.amcboston.org/event/2360 which is a series of hikes intended to introduce participants to the basic skills and knowledge required for safe and fun outdoor experiences. Priority will be given to the program participants. Non-program participants will only be approved if there is a spot available. This hike is intended primarily for participants in the 2019 Couch To 4K program who are prepared for a Level 4 hike. Mt. Adams (5799') is the largest White Mountain of all -- hiking it via its most accessible route entails more elevation gain than hiking Mt. Washington via that peak's most accessible route. It is indeed an impressively large rock pile, and many stretches of trail require comfort with moving off of one large rock and over/onto the next. Once above tree line, the vistas are sweeping. At a moderate pace (1.5-2mph), We will hike approximately 8 miles, and gain 4500' of elevation in the process.
