Overview

Did you miss the October 6 hike to Mt Moosilauke? Can't get enough of the panoramic views from the summit of the Gentle Giant? Want one more chance for a big fall hike before you break out your winter gear? Well, we have the hike for you! This will be a moderate-paced hike to the vast open summit of Mt Moosilauke. Mt Moosilauke affords impressive views of many 4000-footers in NH, as well the mountains of Vermont to the west and Canada to the north. This is a big climb at 7+ miles with 3000+ feet of elevation gain. This is a big mountain, so you will need good fitness and recent 4K experience, but we will not be racing to the summit, and we plan on taking time to enjoy it when we get there. The cool weather of mid-October typically delivers better views than you'd find on a summer hike, but it also demands that you bring warm clothing. Typical daytime highs are in the low 40's this time of year, but colder temperatures are common. This will not be a winter hike, and you will not need winter gear, but a light dusting of snow at this time of year is not unheard of.
