Meet at 3:00 PM at the Bear Rocks Trailhead on Friday, Sept. 6. We'll hike west on Bear Rocks Trail (TR522) about 1.25 miles to a campsite south of the trail just before Raven Ridge Trail (TR521). If this campsite is taken, we'll continue on a quarter mile to another campsite on Raven Ridge Trail (TR521) just past Beaver View Trail (TR523). We will encounter a couple stream crossings on our way to either campsite. On Saturday, we'll do an 11-mile loop day hike beginning on Raven Ridge Trail (TR521), then head south on Rocky Ridge Trail (TR524) with beautiful views of the valley and large rock outcroppings. At a major trail intersection we'll head east on Blackbird Knob Trail (TR511), north on Upper Red Creek Trail (TR509), north on Raven Ridge Trail (TR521) and back to camp. We will encounter several stream crossings, rocky areas, and muddy trails. Sunday, we will hike approx. 1.25 miles east back out the Bear Rocks Trail (TR522) to our cars at the trailhead. (best time to call: Before 5:00 PM)

I grew up hiking in state parks, national forests, and wilderness areas throughout West Virginia and have been backpacking since 2015, including two section hikes on the AT in Virginia. I am interested in exploring out-of-the-way places, helping women gain confidence to be outdoors, and providing a means for everyone to experience extended trips in the wilderness. We humans need to spend time in nature in order to protect it and understand our connection with it.

Co-Leader

I've been backpacking with the New York/New Jersey chapter for the past seven years, mostly in West Virginia and Central PA. Leading gives me the chance to revisit some of my favorite places and discover some new ones. I look forward to leading moderately-paced trips to interesting terrains off the beaten path.
