Overview

Come catch the final glimpse of peak fall foliage season in beautiful southern Vermont. Approximately 23 miles along this scenic section of the Appalachian trail. We will hike at a moderate pace from Mad Tom Notch Rd to Stratton Arlington Road. Friday we will hike approximately 3.5 miles and camp near Bromley Shelter. Saturday we will hike approximately 13 miles and camp at beautiful Stratton Pond. Sunday we will hike out approximately 7 miles over Stratton mountain. Terrain is moderate most of the way with the exception of the Stratton Mountain climb (elevation gain of approximately 1,500 feet). Since this is a popular area, the trip is limited to 6 experienced three-season backpackers (plus leaders) with all necessary equipment.

I have been leading backpacking trips for the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club since 1975. I enjoy taking the time to look at the scenery and have a relatively slow pace. I am patient with beginners and enjoy helping them learn new skills.
