Overview

Let's have some more fun by going on another exciting hiking adventure this Sat. The hike will be about 10 miles. This hike has a few step climbs and excellent views, but we will climb them at a reasonable pace, and stop frequently to admire the views. We under no circumstances will run up the hills. We are out to admire nature's world not treat it as an outdoor gym. If you want to run, do not come. This hike to be run at a brisk pace. Leader determines the pace, mileage, number of stops, and duration of the rest stops. It could be a demanding hike for some, and is not suitable for slow hikers. We will stop a reasonable number of times. If you are looking for a high intensity workout or a slow stroll this is the wrong hike. If you want to run choose another hike. I have no intention of running, and will stop to enjoy the hike. Hiking boots required. Also bring at least 4 quarts of water and your lunch. This is an all day hike that will start at 9:08 and end 6-7 hours later. The hike requires a short car shuttle to the starting point at the Beacon Parking lot at Wolcott Ave. Rain or extreme heat cancels. No swimming and no dogs. The planned route is to take the Casino Trail up Beacon Mountain, then take the Wilkinson Memorial trail to the Fishkill Ridge trail over Bald Hill (Bald hill and Beacon Mountain are steep) and Lambs Hill, and then take the Yellow connector trail to the Casino trail. If it is really hot the hike will be modified. We will stop more, and an easier shadier route will be done. Trans. 5E, but take the early 7:43 train that arrives at 9:08. Those using Public Transportation take the 7:43 Metro North Trail to Breakneck Ridge. Exit the train from the last car. If you are driving take 9D to the Main Breakneck Ridge parking lot. Train riders are always welcome. L; Joe Nigro 718-331-6148 Joeni1@msn.com if you have any question feel free to call me between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM or e-mail me. Joe.
