Join AMC Boston Family Outings for a fun, active and relaxing winter weekend in Londonderry, Vermont. Activities include downhill and x-country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating and more. Leader-led nordic ski and snowshoe options on both days, and an optional tubing outing after 3pm on Saturday. Stay at the Blue Gentian Lodge (, within walking distance to Magic Mountain, an excellent kid-friendly ski and tubing area. The Lodge is close to Viking Nordic Ski area (2 miles), Bromley (8 miles), Stratton (9 miles), and Okemo (13 miles). The Lodge has a pond out back for skating. The Blue Genetian is a 100% Solar and Certified VT Green Hotel with a hot tub, game room and common area with a fireplace. Enjoy home cooked breakfasts and dinner Saturday night, with a pre-dinner happy hour. Nordic and downhill ski lessons available for children. Register at

AMC Trip Policy


Adult: $220 member / $220 non-member
Youth: $120 member / $120 non-member
Child: $120 member / $120 non-member
*Cost for Adult double occupancy is $220.00; adult single occupancy is $370; and children 6+ at time of stay is $120.00. Children 5 and under are free. Trip fee includes 2 nights' lodging at the Blue Gentian Lodge in a private room with en-suite bathroom, 2 breakfasts, happy hour and dinner Saturday night. All trail passes, rentals and activity costs not included.

Londonderry is located approximately 3 hours northwest of Boston. The most direct path takes you out Route 2 to I-91 to route 30 in Vermont.

Stacia Biel has led many chapter and international travel trips with the AMC since 1999, mostly hiking and backpacking, including family adventure travel trips to the Canadian Rockies, Iceland, Italian Dolomites, Nova Scotia and Yellowstone. Stacia and her husband Wyatt have two children, Noah and Soraya, and often hike with their chocolate lab Taza.


Eliza has been co-leading and leading hiking and ocean kayak trips with the AMC since 2006. Eliza planned and executed an AMC major excursion to Alaska and has recently focused her attention on co-leading winter backpacking trips. Eliza's family (husband and 10 year old daughter) have hiked and backpacked in Banff, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Zion, the Italian Dolomites, and Yosemite National Parks.
