Overview

The Appalachian Mountain Club's New York/North Jersey Chapter is proud to announce our 2020 Winter Weekend for 20s and 30s (and those young at heart!). This year, we will be traveling for the first time to scenic Killington, Vermont, where we will stay three nights at the Turn of River Lodge and enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, and other winter activities nearby. This trip is for you to "choose your own adventure": there will not be a set schedule of events, but we will do our best to pre-arrange hikes and trips to nearby activities. Often, people decide what activities they want to do on the trip itself. IMPORTANT NOTES AND DISCLAIMERS: Please plan to arrange your own food, and please bring your own sleeping bags! Your ticket price includes a light breakfast, and we usually do group dinners, but lunch is often largely independent. If you purchase a bunk in the bunk rooms, we may ask you to "upgrade" to a private room should we have spare space in one, due to the fact that we can release individual bunks back to the lodge but not individual slots in private rooms. Due to the prohibitive costs of trip insurance and the unlikelihood of a "storm of the century" scenario where we would need to cancel the trip entirely, you assume the risk of last-minute, weather-related cancellation without a refund when you buy your ticket. Again, it is highly unlikely that we will need to cancel, but given the winter weather, it needs to be an option for the safety of those attending. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact the organizer. FAQs What does my ticket fee cover? Your ticket fee covers three nights of lodging at the Turn of River Lodge. Additional activities are yours to explore at their own individual prices. If there is enough interest, we can attempt to secure group rates for ski tickets, rentals, or other activities. What should I bring to the event? Winter weather gear If you wish, any gear for activities you'll be participating in (though most is available for rent). A sleeping bag (however, the lodge is heated) Toiletries Light snack or breakfast food A sense of adventure! What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? In previous years, we have organized group carpools. Please let the organizer know if you need a ride and we will do everything in our power to arrange! What's the refund policy? Full refunds are available until a month before the event. Within 30 days, refunds are only available if you exchange your ticket with someone else who wants to go.
