This trip is a great way to become comfortable hiking and backpacking in New England! The group will start off at a roadside campsite in Evans Notch in the White Mountain National Forest that will act as basecamp as the group embarks on several day hikes, culminating in a final 3-day, and 2-night backpacking trip into the Wild River Wilderness. Participants can expect to spend each day hiking and practicing basic outdoor skills. Day 1: After arriving at Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center, the participants will get to know each other, via some fun games, packing their gear and preparing for the trip with the instructors, before having lunch at the Pinkham Notch Trading Post. The group will set off after lunch by van to their campsite in Evans Notch, where they will basecamp for the first four nights of the trip. An afternoon hike will wrap up the first day's activities. Day 2-4: The group will have the opportunity to explore Evans Notch through spectacular day hikes of the surrounding area. Rocky summits, waterfalls, and wild forests will be at the front door of the group's basecamp, and teens will have plenty of time to practice their outdoor skills and bond with the rest of the group. Day 5-7: After getting shuttled down the road to the Wild River Campground, the group will set off into the Wild River Wilderness for two nights of camping in the backcountry. Upon hiking out on the final day, the group will return to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center for clean-up, good-byes, and departure at 3PM.
