Overview

If you can't decide between backpacking and canoeing, why not do both? Teens on this trip will spend the first four days backpacking in the spectacular Pemigewasset Wilderness and then head to the Umbagog Wildlife Refuge for three days of paddling and camping. This trip is ideal for teens who would like to develop their skills in backpacking and canoeing while seeing some of the North's most famous wilderness areas. Day 1: After arriving at Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center, the group will get to know each other via fun games, then pack gear and prepare for the trip with the instructors, before enjoying lunch at the Pinkham Notch Trading Post. After lunch, the group will catch a shuttle to Crawford Notch then hit the trail to their first tent-site. Day 2-4: The group will spend four nights in the Pemigewasset Wilderness backpacking near Carrigan Mountain and enjoying summit views. Day 5-7: Hiking out from the Pemigewasset Wilderness, the group will catch a shuttle to Errol, New Hampshire to begin their three day canoeing section on Umbagog Lake. The group will get to paddle along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, through the Umbagog Lake National Wildlife Refuge, before finally returning to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center on the last day for clean-up, good-byes, and departure at 3PM.
