This fun, exciting adventure in the famed Pemigewasset Wilderness will have participants traversing alpine ridges, fording clear mountain streams, and following historical logging roads abandoned since the 19th century! Calling this wilderness area home for two weeks, these teens will get to experience the Pemigewasset in a unique way as they hike a loop within its boundaries and summit 4,000 Footers while enjoying the company of others who like to hike and explore the mountains. This rewarding trip is ideal for participants who are hoping to challenge themselves by hiking long days over rigorous terrain. Day 1: After arriving at Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center, the group will get to know each other via fun games, pack gear, and prepare for the trip with the instructors, before enjoying lunch at the Pinkham Notch Trading Post. After lunch, the group will catch a shuttle to Crawford Notch and hit trail to their first tent-site near the Ethan Pond Shelter. Day 2-7: This first half of the trip will be spent backpacking through the southern Pemigewasset Wilderness along the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River. Teens will have opportunities for day hikes to nearby peaks and waterfalls, often spending two nights per campsite. On day 7, the group will be resupplied at Lincoln Woods before continuing on with the rest of the trip. Day 8-13: As they journey towards Franconia Ridge and the rest of the Pemigewasset Range, the group will traverse many of the peaks along the way, including Lafayette, Lincoln, Garfield, the Bonds, and others, before finally returning to Ethan Pond for the last night of the trip. Day 14: Upon hiking out from Ethan Pond, the group will return to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center for clean-up, good-byes, and departure at 3PM.
