The group will learn camping and canoe skills while adventuring through some of the most scenic landscapes that the region has to offer! This trip is ideal for teens who may be new to hiking, camping, or canoeing and are excited to find out what the fuss is all about! Day 1: After arriving at Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center, the group will get to know each other via fun games, pack gear, and prepare for the trip with the instructors, before enjoying lunch at the Pinkham Notch Trading Post. An afternoon hike will complete the day's activities before they head out to a road-accessible camp site that will serve as their base camp for the first two nights of the trip. Camp set up will be shared by the group and presents a great opportunity to increase outdoor skills. Day 2: The group will enjoy a day hike to explore the trails around Pinkham Notch. Day 3-4: The group will do a two-night, backcountry paddling trip on Umbagog Lake, a great place to practice canoe skills, take dip on a warm afternoon, and maybe see some wildlife. They will camp on the shore at serene backcountry sites only accessible by water. Day 5: The group will finish their paddle on Umbagog and catch a return shuttle to the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center for clean-up, good-byes, and departure at 3PM.
