Have you enjoyed an outdoor activity with a group led by an experienced leader, and wondered how you too could become a leader of hiking, paddling, biking or other outdoor activities? Then this training sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club - Potomac Chapter (AMC-PC) is for you. In our 1-day Outdoor Leadership Training, we have the following goals: • To provide information for leaders to assist them in minimizing risk while leading enjoyable AMC trips; • To raise each potential leader's level of outdoor leadership skills awareness; and • To teach leaders how to plan, organize and lead AMC trips. The training includes role-playing designed to bring to life the skills discussed in the classroom. Join us at the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) Woodbridge Campus on Saturday, March 28, 2020, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Registration is mandatory, and a $20 fee must be paid in advance using the link to our Eventbrite.com payment site https://www.eventbrite.com/e/amc-outdoor-activity-leadership-training-tickets-84361853575 This fee is refundable by the AMC-PC for all attendees who complete two outdoor activities as a certified AMC-PC outdoor leader (see link below). LUNCH IS INCLUDED with this fee. Registration ends at 8:00 am, March 26, 2020. Look for an upcoming announcement (to be posted separately) of more skill-building exercises, including map and compass training and additional role plays, at the same location the next day. It is provided free for all who pay for this Outdoor Leadership Training. You must register separately for that event but will not have to pay the fee. Training location: NVCC Woodbridge Campus, Room 104, Seefeldt Building, 2645 College Drive, Woodbridge VA 22191.
