In support of the national effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to minimize the risks to the most vulnerable among us, AMC will immediately begin the process of temporarily closing all lodging and foodservice facilities and suspending all in-person staff and volunteer led programming through April 30.

Trail Work, West Rock Ridge State Park, Hamden

Date and Time

Saturday, April 4, 2020

40 Main St., Hamden, CT,
Connecticut, West of River,

Registration is not required for this activity. However, you may wish to contact the leader(s) if you have any questions.

A trail maintenance event will meet at 10:00 a.m. to head out at 10:15 a.m. from the parking lot at 610 Hill St., 0.15 miles south of West Shepard Ave., for a trail work party on the Red Trail. We will be dealing with the invasive species in this area, particularly autumn olive and Asiatic bittersweet. We will also be firming up a soggy section of trail. We will be joined later in the morning by student volunteers from Quinnipiac University as part of the school's annual community outreach called the Big Event. Wear work gloves, boots and clothing appropriate to the weather, and also use insect repellent. Bring water. Bring any tools you may have: pruning saw, pruning loppers, and a hand truck or wheelbarrow to move rocks and gravel. For those coming later, head into the woods on the Red-White Trail and look for us either on the Red-White Trail before the field, or take the left onto the Red Trail near the field and head south. The walk to the work area is less than a quarter mile.
