Overview

THIS IS NOT A TOP ROPE SET UP/ANCHORING CLASS. Learn the key principles of trad climbing anchor building. This is a one-day class on the fundamentals of building anchors necessary for safe trad climbing. You will learn to make use of climbing gear, fixed bolts, and natural features for anchor building. This class will cover: •SERENE anchors •Master point vs shelf •Natural vs bolted vs gear anchors •Load distribution: pre-equalized vs self-equalizing (quad and sliding X) •Vectors and shock loading issues This class is targeted towards experienced top rope climbers with an interest in trad seconding or lead climbing. Participants must bring their own personal gear including climbing harness, helmet, and shoes and delay device and locking carabiner. Bring your own trad gear if you have any. Minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 participants. MUST have previously climbed at a CT AMC Climbing Event and demonstrated proper belaying technique.
