AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.

Overview

Come unwind by spending a summer weekend in the woods with friends (both new and old) sharing what was lost during those long months of social distancing. This weekend we will take time to connect, laugh, and enjoy the sunshine and the stars. Activities will include morning stretch, guided hikes around breakneck pond, swimming and kayaking/canoeing. In the evening, we will enjoy a happy hour while we harness our creativity by creating vision boards. We will end Saturday evening around a fire circle where we can share are dreams for the future and let go of the past. Gourmet meals (including vegetarian and vegan options available) will be served family style at the dining hall. We will stay In Beaver Brook shelters and tent platforms. Each Beaver Brook shelter or platform will be limited to 2 tents (no larger than 2 person backpacking tents recommended), which can be borrowed from the camp with advance request. Secure bearbox is available for food storage. Modern bathhouses with hot showers and flush toilets are nearby. Camping equipment may be borrowed (free!) on a first come first served basis. This event is led by the chapter's Harriman Program Committee Volunteer Leaders. Paddling and yoga equipment at the camp are provided free of charge courtesy of the NY-NoJ Chapter. The camp is accessible by public transportation. Registration: Registration is mandatory. Space is limited to eight participants. We will have a two step registration process. Step 1 will require registering on the AMC website. Confirmed participants will be sent a code to register for a ticket on Eventbrite. Your registration is not complete until payment is received. Early Bird discounts apply if you register before July 24th midnight. An Information Sheet will be sent to all registered participants attached to your confirmation email. Cost: Early Bird Discount: Camp: $135 AMC Members / $175 Non-Members After July 24th midnight; Camp: $155 Members / $195 Non-Members Rate includes 2 nights accommodation (Fri & Sat), Sat dinner, 2 breakfasts (Sat & Sun), and program leadership provided by volunteer leaders. Rate excludes EventBrite and credit card processing fees for Non-members. Cancellation Policy: Reservations cancelled more than 14 days in advance receive a full refund minus a $25 processing fee. Reservations cancelled 14 days or less in advance are not refundable. If the AMC must cancel a program, registrants will be notified and all fees will be refunded. Normal weather will not cancel this event.

*Above rate is based on camping includes 2 nights accommodation (Friday and Saturday), Saturday dinner, 2 breakfasts (Sat. and Sun.), and program leadership provided by volunteer leaders. Trail lunches may be purchased separately. If you order at the camp when arriving, there may be a 20% late order surcharge.

The camp is easily accessible by public transportation. Take either the NJ Transit train from New York Penn Station to Tuxdeo, NY, or the Shortline bus from the 42nd Street Port Authority Bus Terminal to Tuxedo, NY. The gate to the camp is on Lake Welch Parkway at the intersection of Pine Meadow Road. (41.217869, -74.106021). Drive up to the camp office to check-in and unload your gear. Then park in the big field. We encourage carpooling, but do not arrange it. Try starting a ride share at www.groupcarpool.com.
