Overview

The Mill Brook flows from Highland Lake to the Presumpscot River in Westbrook. Each year, thousands of alewife fish migrate from pool to pool along the Mill Brook on their way from Casco Bay to Highland Lake in Windham. This 4-mile hike will explore the Mill Brook Preserve, an area maintained by the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust. Starting and ending at the MAGAN trailhead (parking is on Willow Drive, across Route 302 from the trailhead), we will follow a winding trail through the woods and beside the Mill Brook, stopping at the Southern Fish Viewing Pool to observe the migrating alewife. This hike is contingent on regional conditions at the time due to the Covid-19 virus and any State Social distancing orders if still in effect. It is subject to change as the safety and well-being of participants and leaders is our priority.
