Join us for a social bike ride as we explore sections of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway and many of the green spaces in North Brooklyn and Brooklyn Bridge Park along the way. The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway is a planned 26 mile protected and landscaped path for pedestrians and cyclists that will connect the Brooklyn waterfront and green spaces. We will bike along completed sections of the Greenway from North Brooklyn to Brooklyn Bridge Park and back, exploring many of the parks and green spaces along the way. We will stop along the way for a lunch or snack break. Depending upon conditions, we may not be able to find a suitable location to stop or sit down and participants should be prepared to enjoy their lunch break while walking their bikes in order to appropriately maintain social distancing guidelines. A local supermarket is available near the ride start if participants need to purchase any food or drink for personal use. At the end of the ride feel free to enjoy some of the local parks or enjoy a to-go margarita from a local restaurant. Expected total distance is 15 miles. Meeting and end point will be the start of the Pier located at the end of North 5th Street (off Kent Ave.) in Williamsburg Brooklyn. While the majority of the route will be on protected and car-free bike paths, some sections may be on shared, on-street routes with traffic. Riders should be comfortable riding with traffic during on-street segments and able to maintain a pace of 10 mph. In light of requirements surrounding COVID-19, this ride is limited to 10 people including leaders and will require advance registration. If you register and are unable to attend, please cancel your registration in advance so that your space can be provided to a the next person on the waitlist. Unfortunately, unregistered attendees in excess of the 10 person limit will not be able to participate in the ride. The following equipment is required for all riders: - bike helmet - spare inner tube, patch kit, pump and/or equipment for a flat tire - personal water bottles and food (sharing is not recommended) - face coverings (will be required whenever we are in public and not able to maintain adequate social distance) - personal hand sanitizer The ride will take place on paved surfaces and any human-powered bike is permitted.
