Date and Time

Saturday, October 31, 2020, 3:00PM - 7:30PM

Bear Mountain State Park,
New York, Hudson River Valley,

Registration is required for this activity.

Celebrate Halloween atop icon Bear Mountain as the sunsets (5:52) and the full moon rises (6:13). Bring a sit pad and blanket as we recline for the sunset and meditations. We shall ascend via the rigorous SBM and old AT. A headlamp and flashlight (both!) required for the descent via the Appalachian Trail staircase. 4 miles; 1,300' elevation gain. While 4 miles seems short, the steep 1,300' elevation gain is straight up and taken all at once. Wear a costume or come attired as a rugged hiker; remember that either one requires a mask :) Registration required - limited to 9 hikers plus leader. COVID-19 PROCEDURES (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY): DO NOT participate if you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (such as fever or cough), have been diagnosed with COVID-19, or are quarantined for potential exposure to COVID-19. Those who are at higher risk of getting sick from COVID-19 or who may expose family members who are at higher risk should consider not participating . This hike is limited to 10 people including the leader and requires advance registration. If you register and are unable to attend, please cancel your registration in advance so that your space can be provided to someone else. Unregistered persons will not be able to participate in the hike. All hikers are required to carry face coverings (masks) from the start to the finish of the hike. In the event that social distancing becomes challenging or a group member shows signs and/or symptoms of illness including cold symptoms, cough, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or fever all group members are required to don their masks. All hikers must have hand sanitizer with 60% or greater alcohol content. Avoid sharing food, gear etc. Registration includes filing of an "enhanced" online waiver.

Past participants say...

"A Goldie Locks hike: an oven ascent straight up that is too hot, a chilly summit that is too cold, and a descent that is just right and will make you want to stay out all night."
