Overview

A 6-mile out & Back hike along the residential and industrial Hockanum River Trail in Vernon, Ct. Good course for beginners. A relatively flat course with 90' of topo and 700' of cumulative ascent. From Dart Hill Park we head north along the river up to Windermere Road and back. River views, wildlife, waterfowl, and a rather unique pedestrian suspension bridge just across the street from the water plant. People who exercise regularly, have full mobility, and are capable of sustaining a fast pace between 2 - 2 1/2 MPH should do well on this hike. Breaking to layer-down, hydrate, munch, and or separate. Wear hiking boots and moisture-wicking garments. Pack H2O, a snack, and an extra layer.
