The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will teach you how to deal with common medical incidents and accidents that occur in the backcountry. It stresses safety, preparation, crisis avoidance, and the treatment of problems such as blisters, sprains, hypothermia, heat disorders, protection from the elements and more. This course does not go into the depth that the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course does; however it does provide an important level of understanding about recognizing and treating medical emergencies or injuries. This course also discusses long-term patient care, a reality of backcountry travel. The WFA is a 16-hour course and can be used to re-certify a WFR level of training for an additional fee. CPR certification can be obtained for $35.00 during the course. Please let the Outdoor Education Coordinator know if you desire this training prior to course start date. For reservations please call 603-466-2727. Questions about Camp Mohican call 908-362-5670. Questions about the program please contact SOLO 603-447-6711. WFA Rates: Member- $329 Non-Member - $355 (NJ State taxes not included). Those recertifying for WFR will pay a $15 administrative fee directly to SOLO.
