Don your tri-corner hat and join me on Patriots Day morning for a short paddle down the Concord River and under the historic Old North Bridge. We'll enjoy re-enactment ceremonies and a commemoration of the battle for the bridge before being treated to the parade arrival. Note - this will be an extended period of sitting in place. Those looking to actually paddle the river instead of watching the events will have the option to organize a subgroup to get some mileage. Details about the full Patriots Day weekend are here: Paddle details - Could be cold water conditions. Dress appropriately! We may be stationary for some time while re-enactments and speeches are in progress. If you have a kayak anchor, this is one of those rare trips to use one. As of now, this is a level-1 paddle open to all paddlers/kayaks. As the paddle date comes closer, winter runoff and conditions on the Concord River may change. Flooding and fast current may elevate this to a level-2. Butts in boats NLT 8am to be at the Old North Bridge by 830 for the start of re-enactments. Parking will not be allowed on the Lowell Road Boat Ramp, bridge, or parade route. All vehicles will need to be parked along Lowell Road north of Liberty Street. (A couple hundred feet walk - no biggie)
