Participants will learn outdoor skills: Hiking Safety with Spring Considerations (stream crossings, snow, ice, inclement weather) Map Reading : Learning to plan routes, pace hikes, read maps, orient maps based on land features and compass direction, taking and following bearings, and more. Camp Kitchen: Equipment used for water purification, cooking backcountry meals, and creating a backcountry kitchen; recipes and demonstrations. Equipment for backpacking: covering choosing and fitting backpacks, tent/shelter options, sleeping bags, gear repair, clothing, first aid supplies, etc.
