AMC's Cardigan Lodge is looking for new Information Volunteers. These volunteers are passionate about helping people enjoy the outdoors and learn about the natural world. Information Volunteers greet guests in a friendly manner, orient them to the facility, offer advice about hiking trails and outdoor activity planning, host campfires, and may assist with setting & clearing tables. Interested volunteers may also have the opportunity to offer evening programs and/or nature walks. Essential qualifications: recent experience hiking trails on and near Mt. Cardigan; familiarity with Cardigan Lodge; knowledge about outdoor gear and backcountry safety; and an outgoing, friendly personality. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal background check. Benefits: Receive free meals and lodging, and retail discounts, while volunteering. Schedule: Information Volunteers serve on weekends in summer and early fall, arriving late afternoon on Friday and departing mid-day on Sunday. Most people volunteer for two or three weekends a year. Commitment: Commit to volunteering at least 32 hours per year, for at least three years. Participate in training each spring for the first two years as a volunteer, and once every three years after that. 2021 Training: Training sessions will be held online in late spring, followed by a half-day on-site orientation in late June.
