Port Providence Trailhead - Schuylkill River Trail, 989-993 Port Providence Rd,
Pennsylvania, Southeastern,
PA
Free registration on the AMC website is required for each hike. (This is different than the Meetup website signup and becoming a due paying yearly AMC member which are both optional.) Join me for an "easy" rated (shorter and flat), but fast moderate to brisk paced 6-mile hike in Phoenixville, PA. We will hike along the beautiful Schuylkill River and canal using established trails and wide gravel/paved paths. Hike Plan We usually walk along the canal and river on paved or gravel paths. Other routes/destinations include the Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, Pawlings Farm in Valley Forge Park-Giant Sycamore Tree, Reeves Park plus public library in Phoenixville, and Friendship Park in northern Phoenixville. Location The meeting place is at GPS coordinates 40.129247, -75.483021. The street address is 987 Port Providence Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460. Some maps have "Port Province Trail Head - Schuylkill River Trail." There is a bathroom at the parking area we use. Meet at 6:30 PM for a start shortly after. The hike will end at approximately 8:45 PM. Notes Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the AMC DVC has adopted the following policies based on assessment of state and local regulations in the region and CDC guidelines: 1) Masks should be worn for the entire duration of the activity. If a mask must absolutely be removed due to physical exertion, a minimum of 6 feet distance must be maintained. Mask use must be maintained after vaccination. 2) No one should cross state lines for an activity. 3) No activities should be held in the City of Philadelphia. 4) The volunteer leader has the right to remove anyone from the activity that is not following these policies. 5) These policies will be modified upon change in local regulations. I am personally further requesting, as the hike leader for this particular hike, that all hikers wear their mask at all times. We are not going up any hills that require physical exertion. The hike is limited to 10 people total. Please don't show up from the wait list unless I move you to "confirmed" or "going" or specifically tell you to come. I really appreciate that everyone is good about canceling RSVPs or letting me know when their plans change. The more notice the better. Dogs on a leash are allowed. I recommend a collar light.
