AMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors locally, visit many of our lodges and campgrounds, and join virtual events and activities. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the AMC liability waiver, online registration is required for all in person AMC events.

Thursday Evening Oaks (Easy, but brisk paced)

Date and Time

Thursday, March 4, 2021, 6:30PM - 8:45PM

Lower Perkiomen Valley Park first parking lot on Left,
Pennsylvania, Southeastern,

Registration is required for this activity.

Please note:
In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.

Free registration on the AMC website is required for each hike. (This is different than the Meetup website signup and becoming a due paying AMC member which are both optional.) Please join us for a brisk paced six-mile hike at 6.30 pm at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park in Oaks. This is a weekly hike. This is a mostly flat six-mile walk on pavement. Some routes are out and back and others are loops. We alternate between a few different routes. This hike is open to hikers of all levels including new members and beginners. All of the hike is done in the dark, headlamps are required. Please bring a mask or two, water and wear appropriate layers. Driving Directions The park is located near the intersection of route 422 and Egypt Road. GPS: 40.13157, -75.44642. Go .25 miles down New Mill Road off of Egypt Road. You can do a Google search for "Oaks Park n Ride" Notes Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the AMC DVC has adopted the following policies based on assessment of state and local regulations in the region and CDC guidelines: 1) Masks should be worn for the entire duration of the activity. If a mask must absolutely be removed due to physical exertion, a minimum of 6 feet distance must be maintained. Mask use must be maintained after vaccination. 2) No one should cross state lines for an activity. 3) No activities should be held in the City of Philadelphia. 4) The volunteer leader has the right to remove anyone from the activity that is not following these policies. 5) These policies will be modified upon change in local regulations. I am personally further requesting, as the hike leader for this particular hike, that all hikers wear their mask at all times. We will adjust our pace or take breaks as needed going up hills. As well as being an AMC requirement, I want to limit the hike to 10 people total. Please don't show up from the wait list unless I move you to "confirmed" or "going" or specifically tell you to come. No non-registered walk-ups. I really appreciate that everyone is good about canceling RSVPs or letting me know when their plans change. I will run this hike in almost any weather condition as long as hiking and car travel to the hike is safe. I will post updates as Meetup comments 90 minutes before the hike plus update the AMC activities database if it is for some reason canceled. Dogs on a leash are allowed. Please use a collar light. Other AMC leaders are welcome to join, I am looking for some co-leaders.
