Overview

Enjoy a brisk morning ride along country roads from Millbury south into Douglas. This cycling activity is part of AMC Worcester Chapter's recognition and celebration of National Trails Day. National Trails Day, the first Saturday in June, recognizes all the incredible benefits federal, state, and local trails provide for recreation and exposure to nature. Our events are intended to help promote awareness of the wide variety of services the trails systems offer. National Trails Day encourages everyone to discover their local trails, become active concerning trail issues, and share their excitement for the outdoors. Use the link below to learn more about National Trails Day. We'll start in Millbury Center at 10:00, head south into Sutton, Uxbridge and Douglas, then return through Sutton, around Lake Singletary, and back to Millbury Center. It's a 33 mile ride, about 2000' of elevation with 3 moderate climbs. This is a moderate difficulty ride. The rider is mostly country roads of rolling hills and woods with a few stretches of busy roads. Priority is to maintaining the group and not the destination or schedule. No rider is left behind. We will plan to maintain a moderate pace of about 12mph. There are plenty of points along the way for rest stops as needed. Helmets are required; supplies for flat tire repair are essential; lights are recommended, but not required. Riders should plan to carry appropriate snacks and ample water for hydration. Important reminder: A mask or facial covering is required for any time we cannot maintain proper social distance requirements. This will be at our initial meet-up, at stops for traffic, and rest breaks. During the ride we will make the best effort to maintain social distancing between riders.
