Overview

This is an easy-to-moderate difficulty ride starting in downtown Turners Falls. The ride is 26 miles in length over rolling terrain. Total elevation gain on the ride will be about 1300 feet. All roads are paved. When we reach Northfield (the northernmost point on our route), we'll stop at Mim's Market and the Northfield Creamie for lunch. We'll return via beautiful rural roads before we descend back into Turners Falls. The pace will be relaxed at 12-14 mph average, and we will keep the group together, regrouping at various points along the way. You will need a road, touring or hybrid bike in good working order, a properly fitting bicycle helmet, a fix-flat kit, water, and snacks or money to purchase lunch.

Brant is a trip leader for the AMC Western Mass. Chapter Bicycling Committee. Brant has been riding bikes for both pleasure and exercise for as long as he can remember. Starting in the early 2000s, bicycling became Brant's primary outdoor activity (except during winter), and he now rides at least 2500 miles each year. His bike is named Ulysses, inspired by the final line of the poem by Tennyson.
