North Twin and South Twin Mountain Day Hike

Date and Time

Sunday, July 11, 2021

New Hampshire, White Mountains,

Registration is required for this activity.

So you've done various warm up hikes already this year and want something more strenuous? Come join Bert and Jim on a quad burner to the tops of North Twin (4,761 ft) and South Twin (4,902 ft)! Some claim it is time to find a new hobby if you don't fall in love with these mountaintops. We'll take the North Twin Trail to access these heights, which follows the pristine waters of the Little River and has one river crossing that should be low enough by then to rock hop - but it is a good idea to bring hiking poles for balance, just in case. The total roundtrip will be around 11.2 miles and roughly 3,700ft of elevation gain, although we may skip South Twin or otherwise shorten the trip if adverse weather or our actual hiking pace dictates that. We'll shoot for a 2mph pace while walking, but after you add in regular stops and a lunch break, you should bring enough extra clothing, food, and drink to be happy outside for a solid 8-9 hours. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. We will not require the use of face masks on this trip, following the rescinding of restrictions by MA and NH, but everyone should bring a mask in case social distancing isn't possible or someone on the trip exhibits symptoms.
